Besides rounded cables and a $30 price increase, is the DFI really worth $30?

For heavy overclocking, yes. At stock speeds the chaintech is faster.

I'm looking at these two boards and asking myself the same question, is the DFI really worth the extra 34.00? Will be overclocking either one I get with a A-64 3000.

Probably not.

Unless you're doing some intense overclocking, the Chaintech VNF3-250 or Epox 8KDA3J boards will be fine.
