Chaintech VNF3-250 One stick of ram okay?

I'm putting this computer for a friend and as i was going through the manual on page 5 it says, "We strongly suggest you install DRAMs in either DIMM1 + DIMM2 or DIMM1 + DIMM3 slots."

Does that mean i have to have two sticks to get this to work??
 
Its better to only use 1 stick on this board. The manual is merely suggesting that if you are using 2 sticks, dont put them in 2 and 3.
 
No, You can use 1 stick. I've tried all the combinations with this board and they all worked.
