Hi everyone, I came here because I am searching for an answer and this seems to be the only place where I might find an answer.

Recently I put together an AMD 64 3000+ system from Newegg, and for my motherboard I got a Chaintech VIA K8T800. For video I got a Radeon 9600 Pro. After putting together the system, it wouldn't boot. No post beep, nothing...the drives did not start, and there was nothing even on the monitor; it remained in "standby" mode.

Finally I swapped out the video card for an older one, and everything worked fine. I thought my video card was bad but it's not; I tested it in someone else's machine and it booted up fine. So, there seems to be an apparent incompatibility between these two products - am I going to have to get a different card, or is there any kidn of fix I can get?

I have this motherboard and the 9600XT and everthting works fine. However I did have trouble getting the mother board to boot up the first time I installed it. I had to remove all the power and cables form the motherboard 3 times before it would come up. I assume this was because one of the connectiosn may have been not making good connection. But it could jsut as easily have been somethign else. I also had to remove power and reset the bios before it would boot up.

I suggest that you try it again with the graphics card now that you ahve the motherboard working right. Also, there is a new bios available for this motherboard as well. Check Chaintech's site. HTH.
