chaintech fx5200 overclocking

I have a chaintech fx5200 128mb, with stock speeds of 250 core and 330ish memory...

has anyone succesfully OCed this card? I cannot increase either core or memory even 1 mhz without loss of stability...i've reseated the heatsink/fan, i'm absolutely sure its working well, and there are also 2 80mm fans blowing on it from the side of the case.

i guess chaintech really sucks or something....
i'm using this card cause all i have is this and a geforce 2 ultra, and even though the ultra is faster in games (250core/460mem) i need dual display support so i'm using this pos..

desperately scrounging for cash so i can get something much much better when nextgen comes out...

unplayable fps at 1024 are driving me insane...if someone wants to donate a 9600 i would be much obliged...

maybe you can find a cheap PCI nvidia vid. card somewhere to use with your Geforce2 Ultra for the time being

before I got my 9800, I had a 4200 in the AGP slot, and a Geforce2MX in a PCI slot...it was super easy to have them set up to display on dual monitors in Win XP.

Just an idea...

Believe me, an upgrade now would be worth it, get a TI 4200 128mb or a Radeon 9500 Pro and be done with it, that was you can have a decent card capable of dual displays and use that until the nextgen card prices become more reasonable. Both of those cards were nVidia and ATI's BEST mid-range cards ever made, the Radeon 9500 Pro is unique, in the fact that it actually outperforms the 9600XT, pretty cool huh? As for your current cards, just sell them as a lot on ebay, you could easilly fetch about 100 for the both of them.

no problem selling the fx5200....but i'm keeping the gf2ultra for sentimental value....and i'm building a little lan gaming room in my basement back home, so it'll be good enough for UT/quake 3 etc 🙂

i'm gonna try for a cheapo nvidia pci card

thanks,
