CH-5 voltage regulators?

Does anyone have more information about voltage regulators on CH-5 chips? I was told that there are regulators in place that keep it at 2.7ish and anything above that (until ~3.1) will just produce excess heat and not be used by the chips. Some folks are suggesting to OC CH-5 chips higher than that to achieve a better fsb.
