According to ESPN

The University of Missouri is reportedly headed to the SEC after all.

The SEC has informally agreed to add Missouri to the conference and move Auburn to the SEC East, according to a report in the Birmingham News.

The News, citing two sources familiar with the discussions, said a majority of SEC presidents have endorsed the agreement, though a timetable for the move remains unknown. Missouri would become the conference's 14th member, as the SEC already plans to add Texas A&M as the 13th member.

Earlier Tuesday, the Kansas City Star reported that the SEC was going to offer Missouri a spot in the conference, and would wait until the Big 12 dust settled for an answer. The Star cited a Mizzou booster who spoke directly to a school official. Another source told The Star on Tuesday that an Oklahoma official had said the SEC is interested in Missouri, the Star reported.

But the SEC said Tuesday afternoon that the only invitation it had issued was to Texas A&M.

The Oklahoman, citing a high-ranking Big 12 official, reported Oklahoma president David Boren said Monday the school would decide between applying for the Pac-12 or staying in the Big 12. The source stressed that reforms would be necessary for Oklahoma to remain in the Big 12.

The University of Oklahoma's board of regents and its counterpart at Texas granted their school presidents Monday the authority to take action regarding conference realignment.

Crazy times.

Mizzou's board of regents are scheduled to meet Thursday morning.

Now the pac-12 saying they arent expanding so that might kill Mizzou to the SEC, because if the Big 12 appears stable then I doubt they leave especially since Mizzou's chancellor is the chairman of the Big 12 board.

I kinda like the idea of Mizzou to the sec though, we will get access to the best recruiting grounds in the country, and probably end up competing at about the same level in the SEC as we are now in the big 12 but making a lot more money. Instead of Texas and Oklahoma every year, we would play Alabama, and LSU. Would we win an SEC championship? Probably not but its not like we are raking them up in the big 12 now.

In any case somebody made a fake Dan Beebe(Big12 commish) twitter account and I find it hilarious https://twitter.com/#!/DanBeebe

pac just slapped OU.

And the SEC, no Mizzou for you. WVU may not even give a sht about the SEC either if the B12 and Big East merges. All we need now is for the SEC/ACC to poach Rutgers/UConn so the Big East can merge into the B12... Holy sht that would be a helluva conference with TCU, WVU, Cincy, USF, and Louisville for football.

Big 12 sources told ESPN.com that the league had a list of five schools to replace the Aggies and was in the midst of that call list before Oklahoma president David Boren made the decision to announce he would explore potential other conferences. The Big 12 ADs called Arkansas and BYU and were going to call Louisville, Pitt and West Virginia to check on possible membership.

Arkansas has already pledged its desire to stay in the SEC. BYU remains an independent in football and in the WCC in all of its other sports but could be a viable option to join the Big 12 if it is assured of stability. The Cougars wanted to be independent in football but were also smarting from seeing rival Utah in a BCS conference when it was added to the Pac-12. Pitt is now gone to the ACC sometime within the next 27 months. That could leave Louisville and West Virginia as possible options if the Big 12 wants to increase its membership to 10 or beyond.

Hell, adding WVU, TCU, Louisville to the B12 would make the loss of Nebraska and TA&M look like chump change.

You honestly think that WVU, TCU, and Louisville will bring more money than Nebraska and aTm, who happen to be two of the larger (aTm more-so than Nebraska) and most rabid fanbases? Basketball wise, it's definitely an upgrade. Nebraska blows, and aTm was not really worth much either. However, football is where the money is, and those two schools are a rather sizable loss that adding 3 mediocre teams won't make up for.

I don't know why anyone would want to join the SEC. Best conference in football. A team like Missouri would just turn into Vanderbilt without the academic record.

Losing to LSU or Alabama will get them a decent spot on ESPN or maybe even a CBS broadcast. That gives them a hell of a lot more attention from scouts and potential recruits than any other alternative they have if Texas & OU bolt.

SEC says they did not invite Mizzou. The waiting game continues.

I'm sure that their definition of an 'invitation' is one that requires a contract. An informal agreement based on a potentiality that might not come to pass probably doesn't count as an 'invite' to them...

Missouri is an AAU member like Vandy. They are no slouch on academics, top 75 IIRC. I believe there 3 or less AAU members in the SEC so Mizzou would at least add something.

He's talking about why they athletically want to join. They have no chance in any sport. Who in their right mind out of all the SEC schools would go to Mizzou?
