CF Flash Card Speed?

is the transfer rate of a CF card limited to the speed of the card?

i want to buy a usb 2.0 card reader to transfer files to and from pc, but does the CF card have
to be high speed in order to obtain high transfer rates?

I don't believe so. I am not quite sure on the speed of them, but if I had to guess Id say 5mb/sec or so. I am too lazy to look it up.

what ive read soo far its seems like that would be the case.
depending on how fast your card is able to read/write is how fast your going to transfer data.
it makes sense just want to confirm

the read write speed of the card is the limiting factor if you get a usb 2.0 reader

i've seen the cards labeled 4x or 8x, etc...so yes i think it does make a difference
