"CF" Error on Initial Power-Up of 8RDA+

I just got done installing an Epox 8RDA+ in my 2nd system. Upon hitting power for the first time, the system wouldn't boot, and there was a "CF" error on the diagnostic LED. The manual is not much help on this issue (BIOS/"mainboard problem"/card inserted wrong)

There are no other cards in the system besides the video card. The system is set up with an XP1700+ "B" (JIUHB 0302) that have been running reliably in my main system at over 2GHZ for 2 months. The memory is 1-512Mb stick of Twinmos/Winbond PC3200. The processor/memory/and all other parts were running for a couple of days with an FIC AU13 that had undervolting problems, so I'm RMAing it.

Anything I can do here? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looking at page D-1 near the end of the manual, it also says "Test CMOS R/W functionality." Could be the BIOS is unhappy about something. Have you tried unplugging the system and clearing the CMOS yet?

Next thing I'd try is to take the board out of the case, lay it on cardboard and try running it with just the essentials. If it still won't run then I'd be thinking RMA, since your parts are working fine on the other board.

Good idea mech! I'll try that, thanks! Board has power, but..who knows? It'll eliminate a case short!

That's what I'm tryin' to avoid, Drew! I spent 4 hours working on the NB heatsink last night gettin' it lapped!

Plus, this board has the A1 Northbridge.....
