They just had the TV on Regis and Kelly this morning. There are 3 of them in the world that are working right now.

You can own one for $70,000. If I had it laying around, I would definitely buy one.

I'd rather spend $10k on a Projector/Screen + Sound, and the other $60k on a Vette.

ditto, but I'll pay off my student loans instead

Well if you could afford that tv in the first place you wouldn't have student loans that still needed to be paid off.

how would you get this in your house? Most likey if you have that kind of money you would build your house around this tv. Thats the only way I see getting it in. unless your tear a wall down or something...i just answered my own question.

If you can afford this TV, I would presume that you already have a big house to put it in and a Lexus or two in the 5-door garage along with the Ferrari.

They said that it won't fit through most doorways.

I would think it would fit through. It's an lcd, so it's flat. I guess the question becomes is it taller than a 7-7.5 foot doorway.

The hart part is tight corners.

I got my 102" fixed frame screen around my house fairly easily, but it would be a lot more difficult to get around if it weighed a couple hundred pounds 😛

I had extra wide double doors put on the basement when I built my house specifically for the home theater so I could get big things in. One would assume any enthusiasts does the same.

Also the article doesn't give a price for the LCD, states that the plasma is 70K

CES article on CNN

..get em while ya can. Plasma's obsolete. Manufacturers see more technological headroom and cheaper manufacturing costs with LCD.

Am I missing something? Isn't the 102" measured on the diagonal? For a 16:9 aspect ratio that, that would make the height around 50" (just over 4 ft).

hmm, Panasonic had the infamous 108" LCD at Mall of America when I was there a few months ago, kind of cool...it was during xmas.

It looked HUGE!! I'd hate to have a dead pixel and that thing.

Right, which is why the whole "will it fit through a doorway" statement for the 108" doesn't make any sense.

Plasma still kills that shizzle.

I think it's a matter of being able to turn around corners. 50" height with like a what.. 80" width? (throwing out #s from my head)... have fun trying to turn a corner.

What's wrong with putting it in the garage, along with a couple of lawn chairs? 😉

Although its an LCD TV its NOT a Flat LCD TV. I'm not sure how deep it is but its more than a few inches. Between that and the weight is why I think they are saying its hard to get into a house.
