Aiirmesh are going to install a wireless mesh system conversing the entire city. Web page access will be free to anyone with equipment, access to the rest of the Internet will cost $30/month. Utility workers will get free access to the network as well.
There are other cities doing this, which I think is cool. Fiber is expensive to install and never seems to get utilized correctly which is why telco's are reluctant to continue installing it. I predict that eventually all major cities and townships will have this kind of access. Rural users also get powerline-to-wireless and satellite internet options. I wonder if there will ever be a true anytime, anywhere Internet medium that works across the United States regardless of location (sort of like satellite radio).
