You don't have to be a "Business suit" corporate type to be an effective leader. Somehow, our society bought into the wallstreet type person is always going to be the best person to be the CEO. Look at our schools. Almost all of our higher level employees are from the business world and know nothing about education. Leadership qualities come in a whole variety of forms. Some lead by example, some lead by force, some lead by inspiration. The fact that someone wasn't CEO of McDonalds or Sprint, shouldn't dictate whether or not they can handle something like CEO of Sony SCEA. Things you need: -1. Vision -2. Communication skills -3. Proven track record of success -4. Accountability -5. Ability to make managerial decisions Video gaming industry leaders typically have all of those skills. - Gabe Newell, John Carmack, etc. Video gaming industry also creates "rock stars", who are wildly successful, but do not have what you would expect as typical "leadership" qualities: - Markus Persson, John Romero, etc. A rock star, would likely NOT be a good leader. However, don't let that assume that all people who have been uniquely successful in the gaming industry wouldn't be fit to lead a gigantic organization like SCEA.
