Wow.
Truly this kind of basic research holds great promise.
Its a shame we didn't build the SCSC in Texas. It would have been the largest in the world.

Damn, now I'm all nostalgic about my work at CEBAF at Jefferson Lab. I wish they could afford to have me back, the work was exciting but the pay was just not there. :(

We're all going to die.

I believe its scheduled to do experiments in 2012. The Mayans said that we are all going to die in 2012. Coincidence? I think not.

They are firing it up this year if I recall correctly, and the Mayans said nothing of the sort. :roll:

Yes. And for the record, while CERN did invent the modern WWW, the US invented the basic principle and predecessor to the Internet, including file transfer, emails, and voice traffic (although the last never really worked). That book, while entertaining, has a pretty big liberal bias...
