I know we can't stop the trend, but maybe we could slow it down.

I've been thinking about buying a couple of my own CNC's and seeing if I could bid some contracts on my own. Start small and if everything works out, expand. I know we have plenty of cheap labor around here.

A good number of the kids who move away do so because they're just aren't any decent jobs to be had. If a person really know what there doing when setting up and selecting tooling to run a job, you don't have to have a rocket scientist to feed the machine.

That may seem ridiculos to you since your in automation, but I could hire all kinds of young people for $8 to $9/hr. After they got some skill, I'm sure they would move on to better jobs unless things worked out and I could afford to pay more.

It would cost a ton of money to buy a decent used CNC lathe and machining center, the tooling, etc . Finding a building wired with 3 phase would be the hard part, that and finding someone wanting to farm out parts.

No, actually it deserves an applause.

We automate to keep costs low and to keep jobs in the US. Otherwise, they would ALL be in Mexico. China hasn't entered the picture (yet) as they are so far away and the stream of products to the automakers would be diffucult (at least until the automakers open shop in China).

This just in. The CEOs that run the largest companies in the US get paid the most. It's just shocking!

Dave, if a company employs 20,000, I'm willing to bet it outsources a bit more than a company that employs 500.

And when the entire plant's jobs are sent to Mexico, the plant managers, the engineers, the quality control people, the supervisors, the production workers, and, yes, even the janitors all lose their jobs ....because the plant closes down. I've watched it here for the last 5 years, and it's not slowing anytime soon.

Why do you think we see so many companies go under and the CEO's and upper management leave rich??
They don't. There are thousands of corporations in this country, but the bankrupt ones dominate the news.

I see it happen all the time. The only ones that hit the news are the really big corproations.

Read the damn thing before spouting off. The CEO's with the most outsourcing got 50% raises while the erst of them got 9% raises.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is going to encourage more CEO's to do the same, so I would suggest that everybody check their hole cards to see how vulnerable they are to losing their job to outsourcing.

We aren't going to be able to stop it, but isn't it idiotic to sit here and defend it rather then fight it?? Do you NeoCons only care about the return on your investment? IS that all you are, isn't there more to you??

<starts flag waving and music>
Well, I care about America and think we should fight to keep jobs here instead of rolling over. Anybody who thinks differntly has sold out right along with the rest of them.

It's our patriotic duty to defend America!!!!!!

BFS pal,I know of over 1200 at Boeing Wichita who are HIGHLY SKILLED and got canned because of the impending sale to Onyx. Those workers had 18-30 YEARS of service at that factory.

Umm,safe to say they had constantly UPGRADED their skills over a THIRTY YEAR PERIOD unless you or some Burger King flipper can just walk in and assemble a Boeing 737.

No one is safe from this Corporate BS that has escalated under this administration to almost criminal levels.
