Centrino Hardware Control

I was browsing some forums and stumbled on this program that lets you control voltages, fan speed and multipliers etc on your centrino laptop. It actually uses present windows registries, but gives you more control over them. Some people say that they have had some good experience with it. I really do not want to ruin my new laptop or lose any data from my precious hard-drive with a cpu related crash. Anybody have any ideas, recommendations?

Great program - I use it.

Good for monitoring CPU and hard drive temps. custome dynamic switching, vCore under-volting and other things. Essential tool for the notebook enthusiast.

i love the program as well b/c it gives me about 30 minutes more battery on my 700m. the fan doesn't run as much either because the cpu stays at 600mhz more often now

customize the settings you want!

It lets me volt down my 1.73 to .988 and .7 @ 800mhz.

Sweet program. I've undervolted my Dothan significantly, and now I get more battery life along with a cooler laptop. The fan almost never kicks on. It's also cool that I can monitor my current CPU clock and temps, and it's reassuring to know that my hard disk is constantly being monitored via SMART.

The more important question is whether there are any problems, crashes, such as problems coming out of standy etc. Thanks for the replies by the way.

Been using it a few months, only with great results. Does take some time to determine what your cpu is really capable of undervolting with rock hard stability, but once you got that done then it just works seamlessly. My 1.6 cpu runs much cooler; cpu fan never goes on anymore unless i'm doing something particularly intensive, while before the fan might trip if it was rendering some complex webpages.
