Centrino Duo vs. X2 Turion

Hi

currently looking to buy a nice thin n light laptop for school and work. im starting to look at the X2 platforms now and i want to know the performance differences. ive seen a few benchmarks with like roughly 5% difference at times between like-clocked CPU's (right?)

would i notice any performance differences between the two considering im not going to be doing much outside of some work or school, or at most a little webdesign with some music running in the background?

also, more importantly, any battery life differences between the two?

Here's a comparison of the HP dv2000 (Turion X2) vs the dv1000 (Core Duo). Both are the same basic 14.1" form factor, with integrated graphics and 6-cell battery.
