Hi, I read this question on itmob.com. Anybody here know how to fix it??

I tried to swap the P-M 705 for a P-M 745 (1.8GHz 2MB L2) but it would not work at any higher than 600MHz, so I thought it was just not compatible, so I returned it. But when I swapped the 1.5GHz back in, it too would no longer go higher than 600MHz.
I did a format after each time I changed processors. I downloaded the latest chipset utility from intel. I checked the BIOS if I can manually clock my processor. And I changed my power management scheme to minimal power management. But none of this helped.....
Please help with any suggestions you can offer.

Thanks guys, appreciate it!

it would be down clocking as it is supposed to do...
it willd dynamically increase the clockspeed when it needs to.

If this is with a Dell laptop it could be that the Dell Notebook System Software has not been installed.

The Pentium M can clock down when it's idling, using Intel's SpeedStep technology. Once you need the extra mhz, it'll clock right back up again. Or, you can just adjust it manually using the link that ssvegeta1010 posted above.

I've actually heard of PMs getting stuck at ~600MHz when people upgraded from Banias to Dothan and the BIOS didn't have the proper CPU table or something like that.

IIRC one solution was a hex edited BIOS as the manufactures provided BIOS for that model wasn't intended for Dothan and so even the latest version didn't have what was needed to support it properly. Scary stuff. ^^
