CentreCOM 3624TR Managed Hub - How to connect to Terminal Port

I have acquired a CentreCOM 3624TR 24 port 10mbps managed hub, and would like to have a look at the management features of it, maybe see if it does bandwidth throttling or something of the like, so that the network doesn't get killed at LAN parties when people want to transfer large files while playing as well!

I have a RS232 DB9 extender cable, but trying to connect to it with HyperTerminal it doesn't do anything :(

Does anyone know what settings i have to use to connect?

Thanks in advance

If straight-through doesn't work, try a crossover ("Null Modem") cable/adapter.

Next, ther'll probably be a password.

Bandwidth throttling is not usually a feature of hubs, managed or not. You might be able to activate(or deactivate) "Flow Control"...basically sends a JAM signal when utilization hits a (usually user-definable0 threshold)...to slow down the traffic a bit.

It may also let you put in an IP address so you can Telent in.

Functionally, a 10 meg hub is a 10 meg hub is a 10 meg hub.....not much change in performance...managed usually just means you can watch the port activity with an external monitoring program (via SNMP).

Good Luck

No, unfortunately the straight through cable didn't work :(

I will ask at college where i got it from whether they have a null modem cable, and how they had configured it before :)

Thanks for your help :)
