Center speaker: Polk or Infinity?

Ok, I need to get a new center speaker to go along with my new Wega and DVD player, cuz my current one is pure Yamaha $50 trash. Keep in mind, I am going with these two brands because Circuit City carries them, which means HUGE discounts for me Anyway...in the lower-end stuff, like under $500, which brand is better?

Polk - I think Infinity is trash compared to the the clarity that is found in the Polk models. I am not familiar w/ the center speakers in particular, but w/ the fronts, I loved the Polk so much more than I did the Infinities.

Go ahead and get into the test rooms and have it run on the FIGHT CLUB airplane scene, it'll show great clarity (just came up w/ the FC movie cuz it was the one I tested) might wanna get it checked up too

I have the Infinity CC-3 and I like it. The front speakers are older Cerwin-Vega D9 so the voice-matching knob on the center speaker comes in handy.


edit: also picked mine up when I was working at circuit city. Price was $400, cost me $212
I was working in audio, so I auditioned the two frequently, and I liked the Infinity more. Granted this is two years ago, so I haven't heard the newer models from each company.

i can't answer so much in center channel speakers, but i can definitely say that in car audio, infiniti sounds a hell of alot better than polk, so i can't imagine that it would be that terribly much different in home audio. i don't think either company would hold out on anything on either format, so my theory would go w/ infiniti

I used to be really impressed by infinity products in automobiles. Then I heard good products like Focal's and am very unimpressed by infinity. Anyway thats car stuff but I have my doubts there home theater line is that much better.

Anyway we'll all just share our opinions, just buy the one that sounds best to your ears.
