My wife worked on the US Census and recently they called her up and asked her if she wanted some more work. They said it was for a full-time job but after she gets there and takes a test for 6 hours, they they say it is only a temporary job and all of the work is around East Saint Louis, IL (A mostly Black Neighborhood rampanat with crime).

I dont want to get into an argument about what kind of area this is because it is well known in this area that it is a high crime area and mostly populated by African Americans.

So basically it looks like the federal government is making an effort to recount areas that are Democratic in an effort to fabricate numbers to keep from losing Federal Districts. They already know that they counted the population in this area, and people were already paid to do it. So now that they already have determined they are losing a district, they are trying to reverse the numbers, because they dont like it. Why is federal money being spent on counting people in this area for a second time? Maybe O'Bammah is just adding dead people or people that dont exist to the census?????

You drew all that from a job offer?

Vote counts, they want to get a exact tally of the sure votes for the next round.

BTW last time the money saved in census was counted as cut in spending. So no more cut in spending? govt will be spending more? that outrageous...

Your wife is probably a raging idiot.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No, we have no evidence of that, all we have is evidence that piasabird is a raging idiot. But then again, we knew that before from his past posts.

Oh well, que in the folks who call me a raging idiot, after all this is P&N where any insults are par for the course.

But still, to add in some rationality, our US census needs an accurate count, which is never easy in places like East St. Louis. So some Federal bucks got allocated, no one is twisting your wife's arm, if she does not take the job someone else will. Get over it.

I think your wife should take the job so you guys can afford a shrink.

Paranoid schizophrenia is manifested primarily through impaired thought processes, in which the central focus is on distorted perceptions or paranoid behavior and thinking. Delusions are in most cases grandiose or persecutory, or both. Delusions may be multiple, but usually organized and coherent.

Wow. What an incredible leap to fantasy conspiracy conclusion without the least bit of credible evidence. I hope you don't have to exercise judgment in your job.

BTW there are many census functions that go on between the ten year census taking. I have the "privilege" of being selected to participate in a multiyear study of employment in my household. So far it has involved one initial home visit and monthly phone calls. PIA but the guy doing the survey is a real nice guy which makes it easier to endure. (BTW he is a right wing Vietnam era career military man).

Why recount only democratic districts? Isnt that Discrimination? Lets be realistic. Dont jump to conclusions, but lets use fair treatment under the law! The only reason to recount only democratic areas is favoritism. Dont try to lie and say they are worried about a correct count. If Black people dont care to be counted maybe they will not vote either. I know how the Census system works. Typically the workers have to keep going back to the same address several times and even contact landlords, etc if no one is home, or if the occupants refuse to cooperate. Personally, I think if people dont cooperate they should just get a $5,000.00 fine.

I think enough money has already been wasted on the Census. With this era of computers, we know everything about everyone. If I can look up the estimated value of every building in my neighborhood, surely they already know where everyone lives by now. We encountered all kinds of things on the census. Some people maintained houses even though it was a rental that was not rented out for years. We found some houses that were rented out to out of country Oil Workers because there is an actual new process oil refinery being built for Oil from Canada. My wife even chased down a police officer that had not completed his census form by calling the police department. People were being paid to do all things.

You would think that minorities would want to be represented and counted since that might mean more federal money being spent on their district.

If you are on unemployment they know where you live, If you have kids in school they know where you live, if you filed for a tax return the IRS knows where you live, if you paid real estate taxes they know where you live, and if you have a driver's license they know where you live, and if you are a registered voter, they know where you live. Lets get real here. If you filed for taxes you even have to put the SSN of every child on your tax form. If you are old and receive Social Security, they know where you live! Do you really think you can hide from the Government?

Yes. If you live with a friend, work for under the table wages and don't own a car, yes you can "hide from the government". It's done every day.

That or a bigger bed to hide under... Sounds like a chance to make money chasing people who don't want the government to know they exist. Would make an excellent reality show.

He apparantly missed the fact that the census counting is over and that there are no "redos". The voting shares have been set in stone for months. That and the fact that one electoral college vote (or one seat in the house) is about 650,000 people. Thus, a recount of East St. Louis will have to increase the population from about 27,000 to about 677,000 to change the number of votes. I'm sure hiring one temporary position will give them the manpower to justifiably increase that population by a factor of 25 (given the intense scrutiny an unprecidented redo like this would cause)!

After that, it just went all downhill.
