Dave, your stupidity STILL astounds me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_in_The_Simpsons

"Some commentators say the show is political in nature and susceptible to a left-wing bias.[2] Al Jean admitted in an interview that "We [the show] are of liberal bent."[3] The writers often evince an appreciation for progressive ideals, but the show makes jokes across the political spectrum.[4] In the DVD commentaries, creator Matt Groening and the majority of people who work on the show state several times that they are very liberal, but some, such as John Swartzwelder (the writer of many episodes), are conservative. So the two main political parties of Springfield, the Republicans and the Democrats, reside in a stereotype Draculan castle, and in a public salad bar respectively. The show portrays government and large corporations as callous entities that take advantage of the common worker. [3] Thus, the writers often portray authority figures in an unflattering or negative light. In The Simpsons, politicians are corrupt, ministers such as Reverend Lovejoy are indifferent to churchgoers, and the local police force is both incompetent and corrupt"

You can post whatever you want, the bottom line is the show is under Murduch's control.

you really think RM gives a shit enough about The Simpsons that he's sitting there spending time deliberately and purposefully censoring it?

You're an idiot, the reason The Simpsons gets away with being liberal on Fox is because they rake in the cash, and that is one thing murdoch is willing to give up his political party for I'm sure.

is it censorship if it's done voluntarily without any pressure whatsoever from the government or other outside groups?

No, but I do want to know who muted that portion out and made other alterations. That way I will be able to make additional decisions.

None of those incidents of censorship show up in the reruns on KBHK in the bay area or the local Fox affiliate's reruns in mid-Michigan.

Also, I'm very amused at the people who posted here while under the impression that Matt Groening is conservative. It's true, however, that Fox puts some pressure on the show and vetoes some of its content for political reasons. This resulted in Matt Groening demanding creative autonomy in Futurama. The resentment this embroiled at Fox resulted in Futurama getting tossed around in time slots like 7 PM on Sunday one week and 9 PM on Thursday the next.

And yet again...

Dave, the network has NO creative control over the show. Only the choice to carry it or not.

And has been pointed out many times before: while Fox's news division is right biased, it's entertainment is left biased and quite risqué at times.

Fox also carries Family Guy and American Dad. These are two of the most blatantly liberal biased shows on TV.

In short, you have no fucking clue, as usual...

In this clip of The Simpsons: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqfxmWbelcQ the phrase at the end is censored anytime I see this episode on broadcast TV.

This is the line, the censored part is bold: "Celebrate the independence of your nation by blowing up a small part of it."

It's not bleeped out, it's just like it's muted.

Is that really necessary?

Huh, it is exactly the way that I remember it and doesn't sound muted what so ever.

Ahh thats not true by a long one. You are correct that Simpsons is left leaning but Fox has censored the Simpsons many times. One was Fox did not likt them makaing fun of Fox news, Fox said people may mistake it for real Fox news and I even remember they told the simpsons not to make fun of the Catholic's. I did find this but I am sure there are more and better explained...

http://animatedtv.about.com/cs/news/a/catholic.htm

"Now, it seems, Catholics will be excluded from any satire. But other religions are fair game, according to executive producer Mike Scully. Roland McFarland, Fox vice president of broadcast standards, originally asked if the "Catholic Church" reference could be changed to just "religion." When Scully hesitated, McFarland reportedly suggested changing the reference to "Methodists, Presbyterians or Baptists." "When I asked what would be the difference changing it to another religion...he explained that Fox had already had trouble with Catholics earlier in the season," Scully explained. "

OMFGBBQ

There are some amusing people that would say YOU LIE

Dave, it caved to CATHOLICS, not christianity in general. Merely to a lobbyist group.

That does not change the fact that the show is left leaning, and other Fox shows are even more-so.

The entire point of this thread is a censoring of a non-PC stereotype...
