Censorship is the stupidest law in the world. We curse and curse everyday, and even if we dont say the basic curse words. Who ever invented Censorship or Explicit Lyrics is a moron and should be - I can't even say it in the forums, because of censorship. Think about it, the mother of all words, the 4 letter word could be substituted by any other word, as long as you mean the same thing - crap, dam, doodle, oh man, Aiaiai, - you name it, it can be done, so why bother with this annoying and stupid law. It makes no sense.

I'd assume that it's a hold-over law from days gone when it was used to prevent ppl from using the Lord's name in vain, but got modified to block anything remotely offensive.

What I like are the shows that do censorship like
fvck ( half a second passes ) beep.
Why even bother with the beep if it doesn't even cover up the word?

The fact that there are other words for censored words means you aren't deprived of the ability to communicate a particular meaning, only to communicate that meaning with those words. What then is the problem. You want the freedom to be able to offend others with your language

It is easy to offend others. I know there has to be high class words that offend people very much. My "beef" is not that I'm not allowed to curse others off, it is that I am censored or that original material is edited. I don't know what specific law it is but something has to rule the Rated-R thing and ESRB for games and their stupid censors. And idiot parents making a fuss about every game that comes out. Idiots. Morons. See insulting without illegal curses. If you pay for something, it should definitely without a doubt be uncesored. There should no reason for you to complain, especially if it is written on the box the age. Who cares if they have a rape victim in a game, exercise your right to be a parent. If you don't, then I hope he buys the game and I hope he's crazy and stupid enough to kill some people on the way - cause you got-to-be pretty darn stupid if you don't know the difference between Video games and Reality. I've been playing Violent Video Games all of my life and I'm one of the most pleasant people you would know. Things like these just anger me very much.

And why do we keep the curse alive, why? To children, it's a forbidden thing they cannot say - you know they're gonna find pleasure in saying it. The taboo of the 4-letter-word. Europe is still in one peace and they are allowed to say that on TV. They even show nudity in their commercials. What does that say about us. That we can't control ourselves, is there less freedom here or are people just more stupid or money hungry to come up with such a foolish idea.

There's alot of points going on there, censorship, the link between video games and violence, parental respnsibility. Maybe it would help if you broke it down point by point?

Cheers,

I hope you do not become a parent your kids will be messed in the head.

Sadly I think what you hate is becoming reality you see censorship but in the last 20 years there has been a breakdown on the moral fiber in the US as a whole and is getting worse You are getting your wish bud we are sinking into a cesspool of society that nobody is accountable for thier actions and that selfimportance is a religion.

and this is retarded here
Who cares if they have a rape victim in a game, exercise your right to be a parent.
WTF are you talking about? Does it say on the box "This game glorifies Rape" no it doesn't it has some cool picture inviting to kids to buy it. Really what redeaming value can rape have in a game?

VAIN is the STUPIDest member of AT and should be banned.

LoL True True... he is VAIN

EXman, there is no proof of that. There is no proof that violent video games or rap music will ever make someone "messed up in the head."

My wish is for everyone to take responsability for their actions. Pointing fingers is usually what everyone does and it's nobody's fault but their own.

The game has an ESRB rating. Parents should be aware of what their kid is buying and one who isn't is irrisponsible. Rape has as much "redeaming value" as it does in a movie. It is there to tell a story, but due to censorship, a complicated dramatic story consisting of such elements is not a possibility. Because of censorship, reality in games will never exist. Everybody smokes, besides me, but most people do it. Barely do you every see a cigarrette in a game. That is just one example.

VAIN I am not, I merely quoted what many people describe me as and have told me in front of my face. Many people. I am not a person of importance. I don't consider myself smart. I'm just me.

LeadMagnet, that's pretty funny, but that's not what I mean. I oppose original material being edited. There is obviously a special time and place/channel for everything of course. But then again, higher exposure to these things may make kids less sensitive. Or, maybe it won't work like that because of all that is expected of a girl or boy, traditions that we force on them.
