Censored words

The censored words issue has been raised before - with certain words which people do not beleive should be sensored.

My question is: When the message pops up stating that you have a censored word within your post - should the original text still remain within the new message window (at present on my PC's the entire text is removed - this is very annoying especially when several links are added, lots of research, etc, etc)

BTW: Using FF 1.0.3

In the quick reply box, my entire messege stays if I have a censored word.

I hardly ever use the pop-up reply box, so I can't speak for that one.

I have learned to copy/paste such situations into notepad prior to submission.

That way work is not completely lost ; I can then refer back to the original.

I just quit the thread and re-wrote about 1/3rd of it later... In the mean time I am considering etching my posts in stone, so I have a hard copy. :p

This isn't always do-able to due to linking, formatting, etc.

I motion for a resolve:

To retain the original text when using the pop-up box and to have the censored word highlighted so it can be easily found and edited out.

Who should this thread be PM'd too?

A GREAT idea...

But I really don't think posting here or there will make a difference.

Any suggestions, as the more I look into it: It's not a bug - more of a future development within Fusetlak

I have a big problem. I'm trying to make a post about an unfair police and court situation. I don't have any curse words in my dialogue but it keeps saying I have censored words but I don't know which they are!

Words like sh*t and f*ck are forbidden. I'm writing these asterikses instead of the real words, cause it won't take them.

By the way, why are you ressurecting an old thread?

He's probably aware of the curse words and is trying to figure out what other words have been banned. What I do in that case is send a post with one sentence. If it goes through, edit the post and add the next line. Repeat until it fails. Unfortunately, that's the only way I know how to do it in Firefox. Otherwise I could use IE since it doesn't erase the message from what I hear.

This thread may be old, but the problem is still there.

Not for me. I use IE, too, and I can always find my post back. I love you, IE. The fun part about IE is that it's full of holes ^_^".

This is a non-issue with Opera. I can just hit the back key if I used quick reply :)

If I have censored words in the reply window, I just get a little javascript warning, click ok and the message box reloads with the text automatically :)

Fusetalk deletes posts in Firefox when using the popup reply box. They must be using some nonstandard method of getting back to your post (or clearing it on purpose! :|), because pressing the back button in any situation using forms has never cleared the form contents for me in other situations in the past.

Of course, if you did save a copy of your post (and I never remember until it's too late), then you can enter it line-by-line and press the Preview button, which will still notify you if you have censored words, without the hassle of editing again and again.

confirmed. i think that thing is very annoying after you have tyepd like a 200 word post and then it sensors a word. oh yeah, it doesn't even tell you which one. what a lame message board (g r u d g e is one of them).
