Staples has a Cendyne CD-RW for $79.98 with a $50 mail in rebate. Use a coupon code for a $15 off $75 purchase. This brings the price down to $15.00 + tax. Also you get free shipping. Don't be fooled by the "Cendyne" name because this is really a Lite-On manufactured burner. They are good quality burners. It comes with a 1 year warranty. I hope some people take advantage of this because this is my first post. I want to be able to contribute to the sweet deals everyone else has let me in on. Hurry on this deal because the coupon expires tomorrow!!!

I honestly don't think he knew not to put the coupon code in here... I doubt he is trying to make any money off of it. I personally don't give a h00t if someone makes money off of me using a coupon code as long as I get to use to coupon :p Good deal btw, but yes it has been covered. :p

Although CenDyne send cdrlabs.com a Lite-on 24x rebadged as a Lightning II, CenDyne also uses other drives than just Lite-On. For that price you're rolling the dice either way.

The few drives I saw at Staples and OfficeMax were all Verbatims. CenDyne also rebadges AOpen and Mitsumi drives.

Sorry about that coupon code thing. I guess I didn't read the rules close enough. If you need help finding a coupon, just do a search on google for some. Hope that helps.

Got mine today. $18.62 after rebate.

This one is an AOpen 32x12x48. It also has an 8mb buffer.

Not the upgradeable LiteOn, but still a pretty good deal.

I got an AOpen as well. :)

I ordered it with the CDRs and a $20 off coupon so I will only pay tax after the rebates. (~$5).

Just ordered one.. THX!

BTW... Can someone please tell me how to determine the make of the drive. For example, if it's a rebadged lite-on, will it be labeled as such on the drive, or will I need to look at the serial number?

Sorry for sounding like a noob... any help will be greatly appreciated.

$15 for this drive is an EXCELLENT DEAL!!! :D

I had to check the serial number. This info here is from FW:

Lite-on 32x mfg drive have 12 digits, no letters - Sample (123456789012)
Verbatim 32x mfg drive have 12 digits, no letters - Sample (123456789012) (seem to be rebadged Lite-on 32x drives) Look for drive model "VBT321240A" near serial #.
Mitsumi 32x drives have 22 digits mostly numbers -Sample (CR-123ATE45678A12QH9012). Also says 16BM buffer on the box
AOpen 32x drives have 23 digits mostly numbers with three letters near the end -Sample (123D1234567890123JED1)

I got one for $20 w/tax from staples with this method. I didn't feel like pricematching or anything like that. Got a Verbatim Rebadged Liteon too

does this burner come with nero?

I think I will get it since omax sold out last week and sucks with rebates. nobody beats staples when it comes to rebates, they are very efficient.

I'm pretty sure it does as my friend did this deal a while back and his came with Nero. Hopefully someone will confirm. Nero is pretty sweet especially when it is free!

Yes the burners come with Nero 5.5.6.6 I believe but it was useless for me. See it is a special version, one that will ONLY support the drive you bought. So since I also had a HP burner in my sustem, it wouldnt support it. When you pull up the screen to choose recorder to use, the only option was your new drive. It wont let you pick anything else because they all have big red X's through them. So if you have other burners in your system, this version on Nero is useless to you.

I just installed nero today from the d/l they offer on their site. They track this with serial numbers. The software itself can (and will) support any type of drive. Now, if you had the right serial number...
