I read somewhere on the Amazon website that one customer says this drive doesn't work with Adaptec ECDC. Can anyone verify this? The drive ships with Nero, which is probably a good program.

Once again to dispell the rumor started by the brightboy who is given credibility only because he happened to write a review which got put on the Amazon page.

The drive works fine with Adaptec software, burning a CD with mine through Adaptec EZCD 4.02 as I type this. (bought the drive the first time around, works fine, get 2) Not frustrated with you guys, just getting on my nerves that that stupid little review is given any credibility - or that any of them are for that matter. Keep in mind the people most likely to write are the ones who had problems, usually by their own doing.

One of the things the 4.02 ECDC update did was add support for more CDRW drives. I read at the Adaptec site that some Ricoh drives only got support with 4.02. Some of these Cendyne drives are in fact Ricoh brand. Maybe this is why the myth of incompatibility got started. That being said, I don't think you will know precisely what brand you get until the drive arrives. One more thing that causes me to hesitate is that rebates from off-brands like Cendyne, are more trouble to get. Not saying this will happen, but I would be willing to bet money that HP and Yamaha will still be making drives next year, while Cendyne's future is more doubtful.

I bought one and it indeed works with EZ CD Creator 4.02. It comes with Nero Burning Rom 5.0 and the one I got is indeed a Ricoh. Good buy!:)

Actually, the CenDyne 6x4x32 is for sale at B&M Office Max for $99 less the $30 MIR = $69 Not bad for a drive that operates under CloneCD.

Well, that would work, but, this is a Amazon specific rebate I believe (at least the downloadable one on their website is).

Well...if you need two, or want one for yourself and want to sell the other....put two in your cart, use the $50 off $200 coupon, and then get a $30 rebate for one of them. That makes 2 cheap $69 cd burners

The $30 MIR at Amazon is specific to Amazon, however the $30 MIR in the Office Max rebate booklet is not an Amazon specific rebate. It is simply a Cendyne mail in rebate which can be applied to reduce the current sale price of $99. $99-$30=$69 + sales tax, but no shipping and handling charges...
