Well, I know you're all getting sick of these deals. And so am I, cause I got ripped off paying $40 1 month ago. But here goes again.

The deal is now better, because there's a $15 off $75 printable coupon floating around.

So now, the deal can work out to be:

$79.99 Cendyne Burner
-$50.00 Cendyne Rebate
-$15.00 $15 off $75 Coupon
$14.99 + Tax

$79.99 Cendyne Burner
$29.99 Phillips CD-Rs
-$50.00 Cendyne Rebate
-$20.00 Phillips Rebate
-$20.00 $20 off $100 Coupon
$19.98 + Tax

Don't forget ebates.

Cendynes are rebadged drives. Refer to MysticMan's thread to identify what drive you're getting. I'll get the info up later. Its time someone beat him to a CD Drive deal.

Lite-on 32x mfg drive have 12 digits, no letters - Sample (123456789012)
Verbatim 32x mfg drive have 12 digits, no letters - Sample (123456789012) (seem to be rebadged Lite-on 32x drives) Look for drive model "VBT321240A" near serial #
Mitsumi 32x drives have 22 digits mostly numbers -Sample (CR-123ATE45678A12QH9012). Also says 16BM buffer on the box
AOpen 32x drives have 23 digits mostly numbers with three letters near the end -Sample (123D1234567890123JED1)

Blurb taken from MysticMan1's thread

Yeah, i am sick of these deals on CD-RW drives. One week its Officemax with a 40X @ 49.99 AR, next week, $45.99 at Staples, $39.99 @ CompUSA the week after and so forth. Next month or in the Fall, its 48X @ Officemax for $xx.xx AR, then someone else @ $5.00 lower. It is so funny. These CD-RW regardless of the brand are going down $5.00 each week.

To bad there aren't weekly deals on digital camera.

Don't forget the current Memorex 40x12x48X Lite-On rebadge going for $59, no rebate, at CompUSA right now. Supposedly upgradable from the Memorex firmware to the Lite-On, and then to the Lite-On 48X.

If you don't want to deal with rebates, that's a reasonably warm deal.

Is that right? Then when will it go down to $0?

Does anyone know if this burner has BURNproof or any other buffer underrun protection capability? That will make or break whether I buy into this deal.

The Philips CD-R product page at Staples states that there's a $20 rebate in the package, but on Staples' site, the only $20 rebate for Philips has expired on 6/29/02. There is only a 10 dollar rebate up there. Can anyone find the $20 rebate anywhere else? I'm looking on the web to no avail. Is this going to become available on 7/28? (By the way, what DOES the 7/28 mean in the subject?)

To see the rebates, search the rebate center on SKU 486568

to my understanding, the Philips rebate is an actual manufacturer's rebate, not associated with Staples. In the product description page, it mentions the rebate is on the box and must be sent in. Hopefully Philips is as good with fulfilling rebates as Staples is.

Not sure where, when or how.... but I seem to remember a discusion on Anandtech that the Phillips Rebates never really arrive!?

So take that grain of salt and MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING!

I saw this Press release about this drive and it says it comes with Nero 5.5. Can anyone confirm this? Did the other Cendyne deals come with it?

I got this same burner and yes it came with Nero 5.5.6.6 to be specific.

LOL! actually I decided to pass on posting this one since it's basically the same deal that I posted four weeks ago and again three weeks ago, and with 40x selling for as low as $20 AR and $48x drive selling for as low as $40 and prices falling fast, posting "another" $15 32x CenDyne deal didn't interest me, besides in a couple of weeks OfficeMax will probably put these 32x drive on clearence for $10 like they're doing now this their 24x drive. ;)

This Cendyne deal works best at the B&M because you can inspect the box for the proper 12 digit serial number indicating a Liteon or Liteon rebadge. Otherwise you may get an Aopen,Mitsumi or Optorite. Might as well get the one you want.

good point about the Lite-On vs other brands. It was more important to me to get the extra money off with the coupon. However, if I get an unwanted brand, do you think I can take it to a B&M staples to exchange it for a lite-on Cendyne?
