Yes, this is the dreaded Acer variety.

Anyway, I cannot get it to burn without errors unless I disable DMA. Of course this has the effect of making the computer basically unusable for anything else. I know it's not for a long time, about 5-10 minutes, but I figure I'm getting ripped off on the time to burn, I shouldn't get ripped off on ability to use my computer while burning as well.

Is anyone able to use the Nero software (updated to latest from website) and also have DMA enabled without getting errors? I've also installed the latest PJJ (?) firmware for the drive with the same result.

Thanks for your replies. Ya Spanky this is the $35 one.

So is anyone with this drive and a real motherboard / chipset able to use Nero with DMA enabled?
