Just wondering if anyone around here aside from me is a fan of Celtic Legacy?
Very VERY small time band from Ireland, and in my opinion one of the best bands ever to grace the earth.

Now, for another question, I have their album Resurrection in mp3 format, but I've spent quite some time looking for their self titled debut album.
As for the legality of this, they've never released any album under any studio label, hence their albums were made in some very limited amounts, and while I'm frankly unsure about the legal status of this, there is simply no way to get hold of a physical album(yes, I've tried EBay), their debut album was made in 1,000 copies, so needless to say, finding a proper copy is near impossible.

Any takers?
Any other Celtic Legacy fans?
Oh and if you haven't heard them, try finding some songs from the Resurrection album, absolutely amazing music.

What kind of (celtic) music? I'm a fan of trad and trad-rock from Altan, Clannad, Old Blind Dogs, Tannahill Weavers, Joemy Wilson . . . . .

Have you checked iTunes, eMusic and Napster for legal downloads?

Well, it's Wikipedia article describes it as a mix between Maiden and Thin Lizzy, not sure I agree, but chances are, if you like either of those, you'll like CL.

As for legal download services, as I said, they've never had any contracts whatsoever, all self produced.
Besides, I wouldn't touch DRM encumbered formats with a stick :)

Actually, emusic.com is all indie bands that are either on small labels, or self produced. And its all in mp3 format (no DRM).

I've found quite a bit of Irish rock on there in the past year or so.

I'm not familiar with Celtic Legacy, nor do I have my emusic account anymore to check for you, but there are plenty of free trials from them floating around.

FYI, napster.com -does- have both CDs, either to buy as DRM songs (that could be burned) or to rent as part of their $10 & $15/month unlimited listening plans.

Impressive

Regarding the DRM that Napster uses, you mention it can be burned, does that require a bunch of workarounds or something, or can I just open my favourite burner program and go ahead?

And DaShen, no idea since I've never heard of The Chieftains, just find a song with them and listen, it'll be worth your while :)

Oh...checked it out, and I can't buy the album from Napster, US citizens only.
And the music industry wonders why people pirate stuff, because it's so ****** easy to buy it

If you buy the tracks ($10 per CD) the Napster application will burn them to a standard audio CD for you, removing the DRM.

The source for the CD will be either 128 kbps WMA or 192 kbps WMA. They switched to 192 kbps last year but may not have re-ripped older tracks.

If you sign up for a free trial of the rental service, you can listen to the full songs to check the quality before you buy them.

Edit: just saw your edit, sorry to hear the songs can only be bought in the US and you're outside it :(

Yeah, there are a number of out-of-print CDs I'd buy for $10-15, but to just listen to, not as a "collectible" for $30-50+.
