Cellular phone service to get in Southern California

Any opinions on what I should get? I currently live in the San Joaquin valley and am moving to Orange County for college (Cal Poly Pomona). I will be living in West Covina. Any opinions on what cellular service(s) are good down there. Reception, prices, etc...
