Cellular phone advice......VERIZON

I am currently with T-Mobile but my girlfriend and her family use Verizon and they're pushing me to switch over so we can all talk for free with verizon's "family whatever" plan. Anyways, I really dont want to pay for a new phone because I just bought a new t-Mobile phone last year for $250. Can anyone recommend me a good phone that I could get for free with a Verizon account? or does anyone know of any good cell phone web sites that offer good deals with Verizon?

I had a nice $200 phone but when I renewed and added my wife I just used the one they gave me for free. With few gadgets the reception is way better and it does what I need. i.e makes and receives phone calls.
