CellFactor Demo released and REQUIRES the PPU, can anyone test this?

You can play this demo without having the PPU by putting "EnablePhysX=false" in your shortcut. It looks like a lot of fun but it runs ridiculously slow on my setup(and I have a 7800). Toning down the textures and filtering helped but its still really choppy. Don't know if this is normal or if they'll optimize it some how.

Maybe it was still pulling PhysX effects without the hardware support? Putting that load on the CPU AND the extra load on the GPU. If they never programmed the game without software suport, I doubt it has it, you must have been emulating the PPU.

You are forgettig the royalties from licensing a superior engine.

The PhysX API does have software support. IIRC, there are only a few features that currently cannot be done in software, which will be remedied in the version of the SDK soon.

is this the same 400MB video they released a few weeks ago without any physX requirements? the same cellfactor trailer we've seen since the divx version came out?

a while ago I downloaded a 400MB video file that was a larger version of their 'hd' version. the 400MB was 1280x resolution

I dont have the PPU, but I'l try it anyways. With all the flying objects, if my dual core cpu only performs 10% worse than with a $300 dedicated ppu, then I'll concider the software physics solution a resounding success... ;)

sweet! I got it working.. have to install the ageia physX drivers regardless of if you have the card or not.

oh, and you know that ageia logo at the bottom right corner of the game when you're playing?
you can remove it by opening Artificial/cellfactor/cellfactor/scripts/base/GameCore.cs then search for physxlogo
should be 2 lines of code you remove, save, restart the game.. no more logo in the way of your gun.
