Cell users - do you switch service every year?

My work finally pays a flat amount for my cell - so I got just an annual deal with Verizon last year, made $50 on the phone. Now my year is almost up - should I switch to somebody else and transfer my number, get a new phone, rinse and repeat next year?

Until I got Verizon I switched every year or two... they may not be the cheapest, but for service in the USA only, they are the best.

i just sign a new contract with a diff number to the same company to get a new phone

Yah but I want to retain my number...since I use it for business...

I believe federal law now guarantees you the right to retain the same cell phone number when you switch providers.

u have the right, but it counts as a returning customer, so you dont get a hefty nice discount on phones

You do with verizon. (actually with verizon, old customers get a BETTER deal than new customers)

retaining number just gives the phone company an excuse to charge a new "gov tax" every @#$%ing month ... it's called federal number portability tax.
