There are so many providers and so many offers during holiday season. I don't know what to pick! I don't really care about the phone as long as it's small size and good quality like Ericson LX588. I am mostly will be using it on weekends. I don't want to pay nothing more than $30 a month plan. Voicestream, AT&T offers plans for $29.99 and $19.99. What other deals out there?

first of all there are NO good plans out there for under 30.

you know it actually depends on where you live.
i live in cali so i decided to get pac bell.
i chose the 29.99/month plan and got free mobile to mobile and free
long distance. so basically i get all of cali and nevada.
all my friends have pac bell so its kewl. service isn't that great but hey free phone calls.

check out the rates and the reception around your area. there's always a trade off when you see a good plan though. just get a phone and service that all your friends have.

Check on epinions.com. Basically, depending where you are, all cell phone service sucks. It will get better, it's just that the carriers are going through growing pains.

Take the best deal you can find and just get one, then don't listen to any more ads until your contract runs out. Cell phones are just like computers, the deals get better weekly, it seems.

If you plan on buying a new phone every few months or trading towards a better one, Voicestream is definetly the way to go. On the back of the phone in the battery compartment, there is a small chip that contains your phone number, name, important information. If you ever change phones, just put your chip in there and the phone is good to go. (Not sure if it saves phone numbers on the chip or not though) I cannot comment on the service though. (I have Sprint PCS right now, never had a problem with dropped calls, excellent service so far)

Voicestream has excellent call quality. Better than Sprint,Verizon,AT&T, and nextel. (i use them all at work). BUT, there coverage isn't as good and you can forget about trying to get someone on the phone if you need some customer service.

I had the 3500 (and know several other people who currently have it) - its loaded with features but IMHO it, like all Samsung products, is a POS. (I had problems with mine so I had to return it. I've had 2 Samsung DVD drives (one the RMA for the original) break on me, both the same way, so I will never buy Samsung again)

Well I just went for the Nokia 8260 found at the HOT DEALS forum from Amazon. You get $55 bucks back after the deal.... not bad.

I was VERY interested in the Samsung 850 or 8500.... but the antenna is supposed to be a weak spot on the phone.... and I use mine in the field a lot. The last thing I need is to deal with a flimsy easily broken antenna.

SO .... I hope I am happy with the NOKIA!!:)

It is really between Sprint and Voicestream in my area. All the others suck. Here is something that you should note, yes, voicestream does have exellent call quality, but they round to teh next minute. So, if you make an 11 sec. phone call, it counts as 1 minute. But on Sprint, they round to teh next sec, so if you make a phone call for 11 secs, it counts as 12 secs.

Voicestream has very good marketing tactics. 1000 min, right? Wrong, those 1000 min are distrubuted between you anytime and week end minutes and your regular minutes. So you are basically going to get 500 anytime any where min, and 500 weekend min.

You should also note that Sprint is one of teh only companies that do not require a contract, and Voicestream has a pretty dull selection on phones.

Overall, I like Voicestream, but Sprint does have its advantages.

I need to decide between Sprint and At&T

1. Sprint PCS Startac phone with 50 off coupon will cost me $100, minus $30 rebate, also sprint pcs service 34.99, $29.99 activation fee, 250 minutes during week, 1250 during nights&weekends

2. AT&T Nokia 8260 will cost me $50 and $105 total in rebates, service $29.99, $25 activation fee, 250 minutes and 500 minutes during night and weekends

so which one should i choose

IF you plan on traveling alot and using your cell phone, then Sprint is your best choice cuz they have a big nationwide roaming plan i think. But if you are pretty much going to stick to your area with your cell phone then i'd suggest you go with AT&T. Several of my friends in the Bay Area have Sprint and absolutley hate it. Alkthough sprint has great prices and plans, their signal quality is crap. Many of my friends cannot get signals where my AT&T phone can.
