First off, watch THIS, it will make you feel better (NSFW, language) 🙂

Personally, I hate cell phones because most of them will not work when you're out in the boonies. Even when they do, it's usually staticy and I get socked with roaming charges 🙁
That was stupid 🙁

I pay 40 a month, have unlimited mobile to mobile, have way more anytime minutes than I ever come close to using (1000 I think). Also free nights and weekends. Free long distance, free call waiting, etc etc. Verizon offers many phones for $50 or free when you sign up, and then you get a $100 credit every two years to get a new phone. If you get your new every 2 discount and your contract renewal discount at the same time, you can get a really nice $200 phone for free.

Not seeing where cell phones are too expensive, sorry.

Sprint has a plan for 200 anytime minutes, free nights + weekends (starting @9 pm), no roaming charges, for $29.99 / month...

Same thing, but with 400 included minutes, is $35.99

I don't know how you can't find anything for less than $50...

If you had bothered to read any of my posts, you would see what I mean.... everything you find, bet it Tmobile, Sprint, Verizon, etc, wants to charge you $40-50 or more, and throw a million minutes your way. I don't need that many, I just want maybe 200 a month, shared between me and my wife. Make that plan $20 per month, and I'd be happy. Nowhere did I mention how much a phone costs...
