CELL PHONES--How ANAL are you?

Hi guys,

I was looking at my cellphone and realized how much wear and tear it has endured in just a year from: dropping, sliding, etc, etc.

I'm very anal with a lot of my hardware (ie: My PSP is encased and I have a screen protector to make sure my LCD isn't scratched, I even try to keep my XBOX360 in mint condition esp. concerned not to scratch my games nor the chrome dvd lid that slides out... so on and so forth!)

But when it comes to my CELL phone, I just can't seem to have a desire to keep it "mint" and actually think there is some novelty in the "WOUNDS" through usage!

Are the majority of the people here the same way? Isn't it hopeless to keep a cell phone in emaculate condition? 😀

There was no case made for my phone so I just didn't care. My next phone I think I'll make sure there is, having a dirty phone irritates me a little.

All my cell phones have been free. I don't really care about treating them nice. They're disposable and I get a new one every so many years anyway.

I'm "uptight" (not using the other word 😉) about all of my electronics similarly to what you described. With my cell phone, though, I go through that phase the first few weeks I own it. After I get used to it, I don't really care anymore. Like you, my other gadgets like my Zune and when I had a PSP or iPod, I'd always baby it.

Yeah I REALLY hate when my phones get scratched then I spend the next year waiting to either hop or resign to get a new cheap phone.

I always get free cell phones with my plans so I don't really take care of it. They're always older models so I don't have to worry about a bunch of features or anything.

I bought a MartinShields screen protector (2) for my W810i. I have an iPod sock case on most of the time to prevent scratches. I had a Mashimaro attachment that scratched the case up, and so I ripped him off. I've dropped my phone once in the 4 months I've had it, but that was when I was juggling keys phone and wallet, but the scratching was minor despite dropping smack dab on rough concrete.

I like to keep my stuff in mint condition, but as anal as I am, most of my electronics go through EXTENSIVE USE, so it's hard to keep it in mint condition.

I know people who keep their cars and iPods clean and what not, and I try to do the same, but I'm one of those who will have my iPod EVERY SINGLE DAY with me, and it's hard to keep it in the same condition as someone who only brings it around maybe once a week or less.

Very anal for about the first 9 months to a year that I own it. Always use a cover, etc. Then after like a year I tend to not care as much, I remove the cover and the scratches start. Seems to go that way for every cell phone I've had.

What you just said does not pertain to this conversation. Nobody even talked about defining themself. It's a simple matter of protecting your equipment so you don't break it and have to waste time, effort, and money replacing it.

I baby my cell phone until I drop it about twice, at which point I'm like "Fuck it" and stop caring.

All the rest of my electronics, on the other hand, get treated like my first-born. Weird, that. Never really thought about it before.

Uptight about my iPod, DS, car, and cell phone screen. The rest of my phone looks like it's been through several wars, on 2 missions to the ISS, and on a cross country mountain biking trip. It adds character to the damn thing 😛

I could careless about my cellphone since it's gonna get replaced anyways. I don't do enough damage to the phone anyways to have that many scratches. Let's just say my phones are durable enough for me.

My other hardware I care about but not my cell phone

I even allowed it to be dropped in the snow last week (still survived)
The only thing that annoys me is when dust gets under the screen so I can't see teh screen clearly.

I think (as was mentioned) a "well traveled" phone looks fine
Besides, does anybody ever judge you by your phone? not me (least not to my face...)
