Cell phones...............buy now or wait???

i really dont need a cell phone..but it might be a nice thing to have...
but i really dont wanna spend $150-$200 on a phone plus $35 a month for service..
well mostly the cost of the phone is too much..

anyone know any details about the next generaion of cell phones?? or if anything is coming out soon that will drop down the price of the current phones?



update: if anyone knows of any HOT DEALS on phones lmk

I see you live in Texas, if you can find a Chinatown or something similar, you might be able to get the phone free. I know in the Chinatowns in California and New York, the phone usually comes free with the service... but you have to know how to deal though or they might screw you...

the real benefit is to wait for another year or so until the 3G technology standard for cellphone systems are available. this technology is a step up for cell phone as dsl/cable it is for 56k connection: it provides high capacity bandwidth to support streaming medias, etc, and you're always connected to the net, etc.
