cell phones and CRT monitors

my friend came over the other day to play some LAN games and placed his motorola startac phone under the monitor when he sat down. when the cell phone rang, it caused really weird blocky distortion on the monitor. discuss normal RF interference? ive never seen that happen before, and im sure ive had my Samsung cell phone approximately just as close to my monitor before... and ill bet not, but any possibility of permanent damage to that kind of interference?

My Nokia 3360 does the same thing to my Dell p991 .... I think its kinda scary if you ask me....

my motorola does the same thing to both my friends sony and my envision monitor. Actually i was like WTF is going on with you monitor man. It took me a couple of days to figure it out cause everytime i sat on my boys computer, the sreen would distor or something. Finally i realized it was the phone

Mine two computers are right next to eachother.

If one of the monitors is on and @ desktop... when i fire up the other about 3feet away, the whole screen goes wavy for a few.

Talk about scary i'm being blasted by interference right now!
