Cell phone

Well, the consumercellular.com service (cingular) isn't very good for where i need it so i cancelled and i am going back with verizon since i get great service where i need it with them.

so i'm sending back my phone once they send me the return label.

Will be getting my new verizon phone on monday. Getting a Motorola E815 ($49.99) to start. I say to start beccause its a digital phone and i live in a rural area, drive through a rural area to get to work, and work in a rural area. So that means i need to see how well the digital service works. if its bad i will send the phone back and they will send me my other choice of phone, the Motorola v325, which is tri-mode. My old phone is tri-mode so I know i get good signal with that, so thats my stand-by if the digital phone doesn't work out. the girl i talked to said she would even ship the v325 overnight for free if the e815 doesn't work for me.

i hope the e815 works because its got some cool features.

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CONTRACT!!!!

Verizon "locks you in" with ANY change you make while you're using their service. They put a bad mark on my credit looking for $600 worth of early termination fees because the plan I was on wasn't compatible with the new billing software they had switched over to. My fault? Nope. I was happy with the new plan and my bill was always correct because it was "compatible" with their billing plan.... but that change in plan was another two year commitment with a company I had only planned to stay with for another year.

I wrote letters all of the way up to the prez and got the same response: When I signed the check to pay the first bill on that new plan, I made the commitment to stay with that plan for two years.

I played the shell game... and got cheated.

er..wtf are you talking about? how can a plan THEY sell not be compatible with THEIR OWN system? sounds like you left something out.
i have 15 days to change the phone and plan or cancel if i'm not happy with it. what sucks is i have to sign an new 2 year contract with them because i ported my phone number and when you do that it cancels your service with the previous company. i didn't know that.

its not like i have any plans to change anythin drastically in the next 2 years anyway.

I think what he's saying is that he made a change to his plan because of incompatabilities that cropped up midterm, and then they renewed the 2 year contract because of a minor change. The same thing happened to my wife, Verizon is a den of theives. I took it to the top with similar results.

I always make sure to get a tri-mode phone so I've got service in areas where they haven't upgraded to digital. They've been phasing them out though, so I have no idea if that's even available on current models anymore.

they still make tri-mode phones, but most are digital now.

i'm not worried though. like i said, if the digital phone doesn't cut it, i just return and they overnight me the tri-mode phone i want, no extra charges or anything.

its funny, i've heard the same thing about cingular, t-mobile, nextel, sprint, etc.

actually, i'm impressed with verizon. i ported my number to cingular which cancels my service with verizon. i don't like cingular so i cancel that. i call up verizon, explain my situation and they take me back right away. they even honored the $100 upgrade bonus or whatever i had when my account was still active. they could have said, nope, you don't get that. you have to start over like a new customer, but they didn't.

Exactly. They "discontinued" my plan. Took it out of their system. So whenever my bill came, my rate would be wrong. I'd have to call and have them apply a discount every single month for about four months. They joyfully told me about the plan that replaced my plan and were more than happy to tell me that they could switch me... not telling me about a 2-year renewal.

Yes... MOST carriers are going to commit you for a change of plan. That's nothing new. What makes Verizon crooked is FORCING the customer to change their plan so they can commit you. It's a scam.
