Cell Phone washed with rest of laundry....

Last night I did some laundry and forgot to take my cell phone out of my pocket. I havent done anything to it yet, since I know alot of people have had success with water damaged cell phones. Here is one tip I read about:

"OVEN?! Here's the way to do it:

1. Turn it off
2. Remove the battery
3. Wash it/submerge it in distilled water*
4. Let it dry for several hours
5. Replace the battery

* Distilled water works because it has no minerals... it's these minerals in regular water that corrode the metal/electronics and causes shorts/etc that cause your device to stop working!"

Ok, so my cell phone was damaged last night. Should I still attempt distilled water? Or rubbing alcohol perhaps? OR should I just put it in the oven as is?

I'd recommend the distilled water first. You don't want an accidental electrical short because that will be the end of discussion.

If you're gonna save it, that's the correct technique.

A few friends of mine had luck with just putting it in sunlight. Not direct sunlight, like on the other side of a window. Did that for a few hours, just dried it out, and it worked.

But your method seems a lot more thought out and researched 😛
