I got a cellphone from cingular about 3 months ago and a month ago it got lost (I think it is at my grandmothers house) I had it silenced so I couldn't find it. Anyway, my questions are these:

(1) Could I pick-up a cellphone of the same model (Nokia 5165) and use it (I have no idea if you can "transfer" a # from one to the other or if you need the old one to do it).

and/or

(2) Could I buy or get another cellphone from cingular and do the above.

Thanks for any and all help.

Yes.

If you have another phone that was originally on the Cingular network, you can have the number transferred. Or you could buy a new one and do the same thing.

since it's a nokia 5165, i'll assume that it's on TDMA or another non-GSM service. Your carrier would be more than happy to transfer your service to another phone as you as you retain service with them. It doesn't need to be the same make and model of phone...it honestly doesn't matter.

you just need to to get the phone that your provider supports
call in to the customer help ..

and they'll help you reconnect your new phone~ and disconnect your old one~

Yes and yes. Go to a Gingular store and have them move your account to a new phone. You might need to renew your year's contract to get a subsidized price on the new phone.

Another option is to get a used phone from somebody if you aren't willing to renew.

EDIT: Oh wait! If they have cingular in Best Buy (don't know, no Cingular in my area), get the phone there. They don't think they will require you to activate to get a sale price.

Actually, cingular @ best buy is where I bought it, lol. I might try that.

Thanks everyone, you answered my question.
