Been looking at PDA phones and to be honest the only real feature I need is contact sync.

Calender would be nice but If I had contact sync that would make it so I did not need my pda nearly as often RARLEY do I use it to do anything but store numbers and email address and to be honest when I am on the road I don't need to have access to the email address as I only email through VPN ;)

So My question is How dificult is it to set up a v551 with PIM? (been doing some reading)

I would rather have a good phone then spend a ton on PDA/phone.

My Sony/Ericsson t610 syncs to Outlook using utilities I downloaded from their website. It has built-in infrared, which is how I sync it up. I also transfer pictures to and from the phone with the infrared. It also has bluetooth, but I don't have any other bluetooth devices.

Anyway, the automatic sync includes contacts and calender appointments.

Either via Bluetooth or USB, Motorola carries what you need.

The software is fairly simple to work with. I don't trust it for full synchronization, but instead for monthly one way transfers from Outlook to my mobile phone.

That looks perfect.

DOes it also work with calender or no.

ALso I am looking at the v551 and the software says that not all features are availible on all phones.

Why not? What issue did you encounter?

Another competing synch product is DataPilot. According to their specs for your phone, calendar synching is possible.

In general, I stay away from calendar synching as it tends to be a pain, but it certainly can be made to work.

Some more links for you, if you haven't already been there:

BVRP - this is the company behind Motorola's Phone Tools. Check out their support forums.

BVRP - the product wizrd that tells you what features are available on your phone.

Good luck. Ask away if you need more reccomendations.
