Cell Phone Question

When I plug my phone into my car charger, it says "Charging Complete" after a minute or two. I KNOW that it hasn't had time to fully charge and if I unplug it, it will only show 1 or 2 bars...

How long should it take to charge and why do I get this message?

pretty sure its an LG VX1 phone...
 
the fastest quick chargers i've seen take at least 30 minutes to charge.

it sounds like you have a defective battery, or it's charge has shrunk to a very small amount(like the old "memory" batteries).

EDIT: although if it is the latter, then it would show a full charge i think. it just wouldn't last very long.

nope. It does charge if I leave it on there. It's just annoying to see that screen when I know it isn't fully charged
 
Have you tried turning your phone off and plugging it in to charge? Does it do the same thing? It sometimes happens on my phone after it's been on for about a month or so. I just plug it in when it's off and it shows the charging animation. Then I turn it on and it still shows it's charging.
