My kid's Pixel 4a has static screen when he tried to unlock his phone one morning during our California trip.

We nailed it down to loose LCD cable/connector, because if we pressed down on two specific locations on the screen, the LCD worked and static disappeared.

After getting home, I used a heat gun and was able to remove the LCD screen.

After a few tests and tighten the two tiny screws, and that connection became more secure.

After I put the screen back and the LCD worked... most of the times. For the times it stopped working, I have to press down on the LCD where the cable attachs to the LCD itself was located.

This is the only area that has no screws to tighten up. I tried using eletric tape but that was just not strong enough. Has anyone tried to repair their phones and knows what I can use to secure that specific cable/ribbon/connector? I checked Amazon and other sites, most have tapes that are double sided only.

Well, since I couldn't find a solution, and the connection is getting worst (since the son has to flip and press to get it to work all the time, it might have make the flex cable more loose). One way is to buy a replacement screen from ifixit ($89.99), and replace it. But that adhensive they sell suxk. I tried and it was very hard to use.

Or jump on the Mint mobile Pixel 7 Pro deal, $58 a month for a year, but comes with free 6 months data plan.

I have heard about the camera len shatter reports at othe rAndroid news sites, anyone has problem with their Pixel 7 Pro?

I have a Pixel pro 7 and my camera glass is fine. I too heard about the reports on the glass shattering but I don't know those circumstances. I use it for work and not as my primary so I don't treat nice. I usually toss it in my knapsack and use for business BS and colleague calling.

Thanks Oyeve.

Looks like new phone is out of the question since I am still searching for job and wife wants to minize our spending. Most likely will get a cheap Moto or Samsung to tie him over the next few years.
