Cell Phone number portability question...

I'm currently a SprintPCS customer, i am thinking of maybe switching to ATT. I want to port my current spritn number to ATT, but i'm scared that there will be some extra costs per month incurred. I've already called sprint and the person i talked to said there will be no charge since my contract is over with them. ATT said they will not charge...is this totally correct and i will just pay for my plan, taxes, and the usual costs with the plan if i transfer my # over?

Just want some confirmation.

The horrors of porting to ATT are over. You just have to be patient. The only thing you'll want to consider is whether or not Sprint will charge you for a full final month of service, or if it will be prorated. Cheers.

Both AT&T and Sprint already charge $1-2 per month from ALL customers for number portability. They've both been doing so for several months each, disguised as "federal regulatory surcharges" or something like that. Consider your dues paid already.

Verizon doesn't charge YET (they've said they're going to start charging in mid-2004, but only 45 cents or so per customer per month), and I don't think T-Mobile does either.

Thanks for the info guys. i don't really care if they charge me for final month. i just want to get out of having to use sprint, their service is horrible here in hawaii. i get dropped calls like crazy. whereas, my brother calling from the exact same place with t-mobile hardly ever gets a dropped call. i am sick...

Actually, Verizon does charge $1.50 a month for number portability.....

Uggh! Well. . . It hasn't hit my bill yet. Maybe they're waiting either for my contract to expire (currently 14 months into a two year), or for me to change my rate plan.
