Cell Phone Nightmares and Ream jobs.

Doubt that I'm alone in this issue. Just joined with Nextel and finding all those hidden things that come up after you've signed on the dotted line. Supposed to have 2-way radio capability along with cell phone, but they forget to mention that there are 3 frequencies that you can use, but each phone can only access 1 freq. So if your friends are on another freq you're screwed. Using my phone at the office requires that I leave the bldg before I can get adequate tower contact. For anyone considering Nextel, carefully do your research. When my contract is done I'll trash 'em and find a company with decent support.

Here it's all about the group you're on. Is there any way they can change your frequency or group so you can talk to your friends?
 
We use NexTel here at work, and yes, the two-way digital radio is only really helpful if you have a group setup. I find it rather annoying myself.

As to connectivity in buildings. I have that issue with various carriers: Sprint, US Cellular, and Verizon. None of them. Not one, works in our data center. Others work in various buildings, but it depends.
 
contract is for a year. The freq's are split between "Fleet 1", "Fleet 2", and "Friends 1". when I asked about talking to others on the 2-way I was told that as long as I knew their access code I could call them. Only afterwards did they bother to mention that it also depends on the freq group you're in.

if you add in a "group" it costs extra and excludes others from contacting you. I work with contractors, engineers, state/fed people, and we started going this route for the convenience.

the more I think about it the madder I get. Oh yeah, you can also use your cell phone as a modem for a lap-top but the cable connector costs $130. When I asked why it was so much I was told that Nextel is the only one doing this so far which means they can charge whatever they want.

,.............and they didn't even use any vaseline. oh well, live and learn.
