If you can't get 4G or 3G on your phone because of a building or dead spot can text and phone calls still work ? If so why and how?

P.S. mods if this is the wrong section please move.

That depends, if the phone says no service, then no calls or text. If it looses LTE (4G) or HSPA/UMTS (3G) then depending what carrier you are on, it can still drop down to EDGE or 1x (2G) and make calls/text messages.

It should since you are connecting through your own WiFi Internet ... The app on your phone tells the WiFi connection what to connect to to make the calls.

So phones couldn't make calls before 4G and 3G? Think about it.
