I have a few questions for those of you who know things about cell phone plans as I've never had one and really know nothing about them. Here's my situation and i'd like to know anyones opinion on the matter. I live in MD now, I leave for Boston in a month and a half for college. I'd like to have a cell phone with free long distance/ no roaming or long distance fees so i can call home or call friends and whatnot without paying outrageous long distance bills. I don't need a ton of anytime minutes as long as i get the free nights and weekends as thats when i'll be calling the most. So, can i get a phone with a plan here in maryland and use it for the next 6 weeks and take it up to boston with me (on the same plan and all that) or would it be easier to jsut get a plan when i get up there? I'd like to get one here and use it for the rest of the summer if possible, but i dont want to complicate anything by registering in an office down here or anything like that. What would you all suggest as the easiest solution and what provider service would you recommend for me (especially those of you familiar with boston and which providers have good coverage there)? thanks.

If you get a nationwide plan of $29.99 or more it should have no roaming, no long distance. It shoudl work wherever teh map says it covers but 99% of the time it doesn't. It's best to jsut get the nationwide plan than say two dfferent services on two different phones (as it woudl be a lot cheaper anyways). I don't know what works well over there because thats thousands of miles away, but I do know Team-Mobile (Voicestream) is having some crazy deals right now. Just hope they don't get flooded like Cingular (althoguht hey do use Cingular towers).
