Cell phone long distance question

I'm going to college next year in Virginia, but I live in Maine. I plan to bring my cell phone down there and keep my number. I have a computer repair business that I plan on continuing in VA... what I want to know is, should I get a new phone with an area code in VA so it will be easier for clients to call me? If they call a cell phone with a Maine area code, will they have to pay long distance charges? That would be a major detraction that I don't wanna face. Thanks a lot!

Ask your cell provider about it. They may be able to get you a second number that's forwarded to the existing one.

My husband and I have two phones on the family plan, but I requested a number that would be local for my family, rather than local for my home. My dad can call a local number for my cell, which rings over to my house if I don't answer it or if it's switched off. No l.d. charges.
