I've had it with cell phones or, more accurately, cell phone users. I've got idiots next to me in restaurants, in bathrooms, in movie theaters, everydamnwhere. Droning on and on about some inane BS, thinking all the world wants to hear. And now we are on the verge of having cell phones permitted in airplanes! Can you imagine being seated next to some obstinate moron on a cross country flight for five hours who has a need to chat on his cell phone for the duration??
I can't take it anymore!! A cell phone jammer is looking mighty fine. Has anyone used one? Know anything about the technology? I'm gettin' me one and it's gonna be fun!!
Just tell the person that you would appreciate it if they wouldn't do that.

Being polite goes a long way. Sometimes people need to make calls - when it gets too extreme just notify them that is bothering you. Do you really need to be an annoying little nerdy twat about it?

i find that screaming "SHUG THE FVCK UP" works much better, and if that fails grabbing their phone and spikeing it on teh ground always works

I prefer the flaming hot poker up the as* to be far more effective and efficient. It burns right through their skirt/shorts/trousers and cuts their eternal yammering short instantly. Screw a bunch of people who can't live for a few hours without jacking their jaws into a piece of plastic.

these are already pretty common in corporate board rooms and some law offices.

Those of you who are making the argument about emergency calls, I mean, let's get real. How many emergency calls do you hear on a daily basis, versus how many calls between nitwits talking about the hot bitch in the sweater he's stalking through the mall?
In an emergency, run into a store and tell the proprietor to call 911.

And yet you're the judge on who can and cannot use their device freely because it upsets you? Last I checked this was America..

I'm sorry if you don't have anyone to talk to while you're out of the house. Or maybe you're just some sort of freak who likes to eavesdrop and has to hear the other end of the conversation? Or are you just so anti-social that you can't stand it when others talk on their cell phone about random stuff? Or maybe just an old man who is mad at the world.
If you don't like someone being a jackass on their phone, why don't you just walk away? Or if you're dining out, ask them to be quiet. It's just like if there's table of loud drunks.. you can deal with it or ask them to be quiet, or hell ask to be seated somewhere else.

Now, in movie theaters, yes, that does piss me off, but you know what I do? I ask them to stop! OMG THAT WAS SO HARD! I TALKED TO A STRANGER!!!11

wonder if a zener noise source modulating a ~1.8GHZ VCO in a PLL would do it? - how many dbm would be needed though...

We could always try being more specific. Save your money, buy a taser. If the dipstick in front of you is bellowing sweet nothings to his cellphone during the movie, zap him and enjoy the silence (and applause).

And for the vocal minority of people who never, never do anything offensive with their cellphones and have whining fits when people complain about the people who use phones inconsiderately, grow up. If somebody had one of these jammers, you wouldn't know whose ass to claim you could kick. You just wouldn't have a signal.
