I it still possible to use a cell phone as a modem? I have verizion and they said I have to get their Natioal Access service(49.99/mo), my broadband provider offer dial-up service so Id like to:

Use my cell phone as a modem for on-the-go
Only pay airtime minutes
Using my current ISP

Is that possible with any provider right now?

You would need a dial-up modem for your machine and an adapter. Then it works like any dial-up setup...slowly.

I have the USB modem drivers for my phone, do I just need the cable then?

OK, I'm not sure which of us is confused. The phone is not a modem. If you meant your machine has a dial-up modem with a USB connector then, yes you just need the adapter.

No, my my phone can be used as a USB modem, however verizon is telling me I cant dial into my ISP, their telling me I need to use them as the ISP.

If you have a dial-up 56K modem you can dial any ISP anywhere that you have an account with. What Verizon is offering is a broadband connection. Two separate and mutually exclusive things. In other words, if you have a DSL connection with another ISP you cannot simply connect your machine to your phone, dial your ISP and get a DSL connection.

I know, my cable company offers dialup numbers, my cell phone can be used as a modem via USB cable, all I need to know is will verzion let me dial into my ISP? Or will they charge me more?

Verizon will let you dial whoever you wish. If your cable company is offering broadband wireless service then THEY will charge you more. If the cable company is only offering 56K service then you only pay for the minutes as you do normally.

The connector offered by Verizon may Not work (but I bet it does) with the cable company's setup but if not, they will offer one of their own or specify whose does. Again this only applies to broadband connections.
