Cell phone help, never had one

I will be starting with Verizon (and my first cell phone) in the next week and I noticed that Amazon has these amazing deals for lots of different phones, for example:

LG VX5200

Motorola V276

Has anyone tried these Amazon deals? The rebates only work for new service so I imagine most people can't take advantage of it. I wouldn't be able to get the big rebate for over six months, but the good part is that I only need to get a 1-year plan (which is what I want). The deals are so much better than the Verizon store or website deals (or anywhere else), I am thinking there must be some kind of catch...

Also, anyone have a suggestion about which phone to get? All I require is a flip phone with decent battery life, decent sound and an external display. I'd like to pay around $100 or less before rebates. I picked the two examples above because they fit my requirements but there are many others with rebates on Amazon.

TIA!!

Thanks alm4rr, that's a great site but it won't work for me. Looks like all of the rebates require a 2-year contract. I only want a 1-year contract to start with since I don't know what I'll be getting into. BUT, seeing that site makes the Amazon deals more believable.

i've used the amazon rebates and so have other family members

i have never had an issue with them so go for it

Thanks Albis. This may sound like a dumb question, but when I add the phone AND service to my Amazon basket, will I later be able to configure my service (add text messaging, for example) on Amazon?

later on in the process, you can check box the 1 year agreement area. many cell providers market with 2 year agt's to show their lowest prices

ps - the nice thing about LT is that most of the rebates are instant and require no paperwork
